The perfect porridge is an art form. Seriously, there are competitions for it. This is why I am putting up a recipe; anyone can chuck some oats in a bowl add some milk and put it in the micro, but real porridge is so much more special. You cannot beat that heart warming bowl on a cold morning, knowing that it is not only delicious but super nutritional too. Its all in the making…
Ingredients (serves 2)
100g traditional oats (no quick mixes)
600ml whole milk
1/2tbsp coconut butter (click to see recipe)
1tbsp chia seeds (optional)
1/2tsp cinnamon (optional)
1tsp coconut oil (optional)
To Serve (all optional)
Berries (any from blueberries, raspberries or strawberrys)
Coconut flakes
Dollop of nut butter
Nuts (whatever takes your fancy!)
Method
- Place all your core ingredients into a pan over a high heat
- Stir continuously, whilst the mixture simmers, until thick
- Pour into a bowl and add toppings
I never said its rocket science, but always do it on the stove to ensure its creamy and delicious!
